In the initial consultation we will understand your child’s needs to determine whether a diagnostic assessment is required, to understand what might be happening and answer any of your questions.
We are experienced clinicians who have spent their career ensuring that we understand how best to assess for Autism and ADHD.
We will offer a comprehensive specialist assessment that complies with clinical guidelines and best practice. We work as a team to ensure that the right decisions are being made. We can offer further reassurance about what we offer and the process in your initial consultation.

What happens in a diagnostic assessment?
Initial consultation: You might be unsure of whether your child needs a full assessment or whether something else might be happening for you/them, so this session is here to reassure you and provide you with some initial answers.
Assessment: For a full diagnostic assessment the number of sessions and time needed can depend on lots of different things. An Autism or ADHD assessment can take about 2-4 sessions. We will be transparent with you to let you know what is needed and how long it will take, once we have met with you.
Things you are likely to be asked to do during an assessment:
- Fill out some questionnaires from your perspective.
- Have an interview about your child’s life and needs
- An assessor to come to your home or child's school to observe their behaviour.
- Do a standardised assessment and do some activities and answer some questions.
- School/education setting will also be asked to fill out questionnaires.
Feedback: Once the assessment is completed we will inform you as to whether your child meets the criteria for Autism and/or ADHD. If they do not meet the criteria we will give you an explanation as to why they present as they do and provide you with some recommendations of what to do next.
Report: We will provide you with a full and comprehensive assessment report for why the decision was made. We will also provide you with a short summary letter (if wanted).
Next: We will provide you with recommendations for what might be helpful for you moving forward. For example, we will provide recommendations for; school/college/uni, family and what you might need support with in the future. We know a range of helpful organisations and resources that could help you after a diagnostic outcome, of course our nkind. team are here to help you too.
NOTE:
We are a Psychology led service with a multi disciplinary team. However we do not offer recommendations or prescriptions for ADHD medications or medications for physical or mental health disorders. If what you are needing/wanting is medication please choose an alternative provider.
